QOPI Certification

ASCO's Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) is an oncologist-led, practice-based quality assessment and improvement program.

QOPI's goal is to promote excellence in cancer care by helping practices create a culture of self-examination and improvement. The process employed for improving cancer care includes measurement, feedback and improvement tools for hematology-oncology practices.

  • ASCO has applied for QOPI to be accepted as a registry for CMS reporting using the PQRS oncology measures group or Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) reporting. View the QCDR measures here. CMS will announce approved registries in late May and if QOPI is approved, reporting through QOPI will be offered in Fall 2014. Check back for updates.

About the QOPI Program:

Practices must be registered to participate in data collections. New practices can register for QOPI at any time, but should register at least one month prior to the start of a data collection round to receive e-mail notifications regarding training and materials for the round.

Who Can Participate?

QOPI is an ASCO member benefit currently available to US-based practices with at least one ASCO member in good standing.  There is no charge to register/participate in QOPI; participating sites bear the internal costs of chart abstraction.  Data collection occurs twice per year, in spring and fall, for a five week period.  Details regarding the program can be found through the links on the left.
